About Me

Hey there, I'm Ian Matthew Sobule. I'm an engineering leader, a creator, and collaborator. I have nearly a decade of experience in web development and technical leadership. I've worked in various roles, from individual contributor to management to technical leadership to consulting.

I'm a late bloomer in web development and computer science. Growing up, I always had a passion for three things: Theatre, Film, and The Denver Broncos. No university offered a degree of Denver Broncos, so I settled for 2 out of 3 and studied Theatre and Film at The University of Missouri before dropping out and moving to Chicago to pursue an acting career.

After my brief stint as a starving artist, I began to wonder if there were any other careers out there for me. That's when I started looking into programming, and my life began to totally change. I began by taking Harvard's CS50. I was blown away and hooked by David Malan's enthusiasm and motivated by the course's challenges.

With good fortune, I enrolled in a program called LaunchCode, a nonprofit that helps people launch new careers in tech. With the confidence I could make this late-career switch, I realized I was genuinely excited about learning this learning industry and its tools. Shortly after graduating, I landed my first job as a web developer.

In the 8 years since taking that first job, I've continued learning and growing, culminating in my time as Director of Development at Suretybonds.com.
